Why Branding Matters in Multi-Tenant SaaS
When an OEM deploys a platform to their dealer network, the last thing they want is for it to look like someone else’s product. Dealers interact with the platform daily — for training, ecommerce, reporting, and operations. If the portal doesn’t feel like it belongs to the OEM’s ecosystem, adoption suffers and trust erodes.
That’s why Motor SaaS doesn’t offer a “branding page” with two color pickers and a logo upload. It provides a full theming engine with over 60 configurable properties — enough to make every tenant’s portal genuinely feel like their own product.
What You Can Customize
The theming system covers every visible layer of the platform. Organizations control their logo variants — primary logo, mark (icon), dark background version, light background version, and favicon. The system supports SVG uploads with automatic monochrome tinting, so logos adapt cleanly to different contexts.
Color systems go deeper than just a primary and accent color. Organizations define their brand palette, and the platform generates Material-UI theme tokens that cascade through every component — buttons, cards, navigation, form elements, and data visualizations.
Typography is configurable too — base font family, menu font weights, heading weights, and body text sizing. Combined with layout controls for navigation density (expanded or collapsed sidebar), table density, and content width (fluid or fixed), the platform adapts to each organization’s design language.
Per-Portal Accent Colors
One of the more subtle features is per-admin-portal color overrides. Motor SaaS has multiple admin tiers — Site Admin, Organization Admin, and System Admin. Each tier can have its own banner color, so administrators immediately know which management level they’re operating in. This prevents accidental changes at the wrong scope — a surprisingly common problem in multi-level admin systems.
Dark Mode and Theme Modes
The platform supports light and dark modes with user-level toggle controls. Organizations can set their preferred default mode, and individual users can override it based on their preference. The theming engine adapts all brand colors, surfaces, and text to the active mode — so the dark mode isn’t just a generic dark theme, it’s the organization’s brand expressed in a dark palette.
CDN-Delivered Assets
Branding assets (logos, images) are delivered via CloudFront CDN with caching, so portal load times aren’t affected by custom theming. When an organization updates their logo, the asset is pushed to the CDN and cached — ensuring fast delivery across all their sites without manual cache busting.
Why 60+ Properties?
Because half-measures don’t work. If a dealer logs into a portal and the colors are right but the logo is wrong, or the fonts match but the navigation looks generic, the illusion breaks. The theming system exists so that organizations can present a portal that genuinely represents their brand — not a white-labeled product with a logo slapped on top.
For OEMs especially, this is a retention feature. A dealer who interacts with a branded, professional portal every day develops a deeper relationship with the OEM’s digital ecosystem. That’s worth more than any single feature on the platform.
